Mission Statement
Little Angels Daycare and Preschool, Inc. accepts each child as an individual person of worth and value. Through age appropriate activities we help children to grow socially, physically, mentally and emotionally. While we affirm and support that parents/guardians are the most influential people in a child’s life, we strive to help children relate to and feel comfortable interacting with other adults. We believe that positive experiences and guidance early in a child’s life helps to build a good self esteem and attitude that will carry over in his/her future.
Philosophy
We are dedicated to providing a program that embraces the families’ differences and similarities in all aspects of life including religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds. Children are encouraged to learn and explore at their own speed what interests them and what is developmentally appropriate for their age. We are a center that does a mixture of academic and play-based experiences that are personally meaningful and socially relevant for each individual child. Our philosophy is based on theorists, such as Vygotsky, and Erikson with a few parts from other theorists.
Vygotsky focuses on helping the child by scaffolding. First a teacher will model to a child how to complete a task, second a teacher will do the activity together with a child until the child is able to do an activity on their own.
Erikson believed that children need opportunities to learn things for themselves in order to develop a sense of initiative. This is displayed in all classrooms where the teacher has set up learning experiences for the children to explore independently and learn new skills while engaging in productive play.
Curriculum
We are starting the process of implanting the Creative Curriculum into our center. This curriculum has been chosen because it balances teacher planned and child initiated learning. It is a written research-based curriculum created by Teaching-Strategies that has been aligned with the Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards in All Essential Domains of School Readiness (Birth-Age5).
